EMS Kickoff
Thursday, June 5, 2025
Today marks a historic day in the history of our district and Medina County as a whole.
As of 06:00 this morning, Medina County ESD 1 is no longer contracting our 911 EMS response, and will operate the service within the Fire Department.
Since inception of the ESD, the 911 EMS has been contracted to a third party provider. For the last 7.5 years we have utilized Allegiance Mobile Health. While Allegiance has always provided the service as dictated by the contract, it was decided 3 years ago for sustainability within our growing community, to begin designing our own service. All of the hard work over the last three years concluded today with the official launch of our 911 service.
We especially thank our ESD board who believed in the vision and was willing to support this process. Today we now have 4 full-time dedicated Medic Units staffed 24/7 with the capability to increase to 6 if service demand requires.
As you see the new units around town we encourage you to visit with the crews and take a look at the equipment as we are focused on being a community based system.
Thank you to Siddons-Martin Emergency Group for the purchasing process on the 5 Wheeled Coach Texas Edition Units and sponsoring today’s launch celebration.
